Datacenter automation for an international industrial group

New plants built from a definition instead of manual builds: a PowerShell automation running through Azure DevOps configures server hardware, builds Hyper-V clusters, deploys VMs and connects every site centrally via Azure Arc.

01

Starting point

New plants on several continents each needed their own datacenter build: server hardware, Hyper-V clusters, virtual machines and applications from scratch, often at sites with limited connectivity and strict network segmentation. Built manually, every configuration risked ending up slightly different.

02

Approach

WORXSPACE built a full datacenter automation solution on PowerShell, executed through Azure DevOps pipelines. Each site is described in a declarative definition; the automation then configures the server hardware via Dell iDRAC, builds the Hyper-V clusters, deploys the virtual machines, enables Azure Arc for central management and rolls out applications with PSADT. The demanding network and security constraints of each site, from limited connectivity to strict segmentation, feed directly into the definitions.

03

Result

  • New sites are stood up from a definition instead of a manual build
  • Identical, repeatable configuration across every plant
  • Central management via Azure Arc, even at remote sites with limited connectivity
