Cloud workplace and network rollout for a Swiss manufacturing company

Starting point

Several sites ran their own servers for file storage, email and archive, all needing ongoing patching, maintenance and backup. Access to files outside the office ran over VPN to a central file server. At the same time, the network at these sites had grown over the years and could no longer be managed as one.

Approach

WORXSPACE retired the on-premises servers: email moved to Exchange Online, file shares moved to Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, and the old print servers were replaced with Printix as cloud print management. Separately, a full network rebuild on UniFi: a WiFi survey and measurement across the sites first, then the rollout of the new network across all sites, plus UniFi Access for door access control.

Result

• Files are available from anywhere, with versioning and easy sharing, instead of VPN access to a file server
• One network platform across all sites, including door access control
• No more file, print and mail servers to patch and back up
